WEARE, NH October 18, 2007 Granite State Telephone awarded $1,000 scholarships to Lindsey Lemire and Matthew Lawton, both from Weare, NH, for the 2007-2008 academic year. This marks the fourteenth year Granite State Telephone has awarded scholarships to exceptional students in its serving area.
Ms. Lemire, currently a senior at the University of New Hampshire, will graduate in May 2008 with a degree in biochemistry. Mr. Lawton, a graduate student at Norwich University in Northfield, VT is pursuing his master's of architecture degree.
"Granite State Telephone is proud to support education within the community by offering scholarships to outstanding students like Ms. Lemire and Mr. Lawton," explains Susan Rand King, president.
Over $25,000 has been awarded since the Granite State Telephone scholarship program was founded in 1994. The scholarships, awarded on academic merit and financial need, are administered by the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation. To be eligible, candidates must reside in one of the following towns within Granite State Telephone's serving area: Chester, East Deering, Hillsborough Upper Village, Sandown, Washington, Weare or Windsor. Applicants must be planning to enroll in an undergraduate program at an accredited two or four year college, university or vocational school within the United States.
