WEARE, NH – January 19, 2009 – The Granite State Telephone Pioneer Club is pleased to announce that it recently donated over $7,100 to local charities in Granite State Telephone's serving area. The funds were distributed to nine different organizations, some of which included food pantries in the towns of Chester, Sandown, Weare and Hillsborough, a senior center in the town of Washington, the Hillsboro House nursing home, the Weare Angel Tree, and the Hillsborough Volunteer Fire Department.
The Granite State Telephone Pioneer Club is a philanthropic organization that was founded by the employees of Granite State Telephone in 1992 to serve the communities of southern New Hampshire. "For the past seventeen years, the Granite State Telephone Pioneer Club has strived to make a difference in the community," comments Diane Lord, Pioneer Club President. "We are pleased to be able to make these contributions to such worthwhile organizations."
The Club is an active chapter of the Independent Telephone Pioneer Association, a national, non-profit widely known for its charity work and philanthropic support of a variety of associations. Over 30 Granite State Telephone employees are members of the Granite State Telephone Pioneer Club. They organize various volunteer and fundraising events throughout the year and have made contributions to numerous charitable causes.
